As a System Integration Engineer (Manipulation Hardware) , you will be responsible for integrating dexterous manipulation hardware into our robotic platforms. You act as the bridge between external hardware vendors and our internal engineering teams, ensuring that third-party end-effectors and manipulation systems integrate seamlessly with our mechanical, electrical, and control architectures.
Your mission is to accelerate development and deployment by identifying, evaluating, and integrating best-in-class manipulation hardware, while also defining system requirements for future in-house solutions when off-the-shelf products do not meet performance, reliability, or scalability needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and electrical integration of dexterous end-effectors and manipulation hardware into our robotic systems. Develop mounting solutions, interface electronics, and communication layers to ensure reliable interaction with our control and software stacks.
- Design and execute validation procedures to ensure manipulation hardware meets performance and reliability standards. Develop test rigs and benchmarking methodologies to evaluate durability, precision, duty cycles, and real-world task performance.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the global ecosystem of robotic hands and manipulation hardware. Evaluate third-party solutions, select suitable vendors, and manage procurement and initial system integration.
- Act as the technical point of contact with hardware suppliers, coordinating integration requirements, firmware compatibility, and potential customizations needed to support our platform.
- Translate integration findings and system limitations into clear technical requirements for future hardware iterations. Provide input to internal engineering teams on the design of custom manipulation systems where existing solutions fall short.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for engineers who thrive at the intersection of hardware integration, robotics systems engineering, and real-world deployment. You are pragmatic, detail-oriented, and capable of turning complex interdisciplinary concepts into robust, deployable robotic systems.
- Experience: 5+ years in Robotics Hardware, mechatronics, or system integration, ideally with hands-on work integrating robotic end-effectors or manipulation systems.
- Core Skills: Strong C/C++ and Python programming and scripting skills, with experience in embedded and edge computing devices. Solid understanding of real-time control requirements, interrupts, and threaded execution. Comfortable with linear algebra, coordinate systems and 3D transformations. Experience with Robotics and particularly ROS / ROS2 and real-time control pipelines. Experience with using hardware communication protocols and sensor drivers. Comfortable with both, Manipulation and Kinematics. Rapid-prototyping of mechanical and electrical subsystems, fluent navigation of CAD drawings and assemblies, wiring, soldering, mechanical assembly.
- Mindset: You are a practical problem-solver who prioritizes reliability, robustness, and system performance. You understand that deployed robots must work consistently, and you approach integration with careful validation, testing, and optimization.
