The German Center for Astrophysics (DZA) is being established as a new large-scale research center in Lusatia, Germany. Its mission is to strengthen German astrophysics strategically, foster scientific excellence, and actively contribute to the structural transformation of the region. As a scientific institution with a strong focus on innovation, the DZA will create new opportunities for astrophysics in Germany while sustainably shaping the future of Lusatia.
At the earliest possible date, the following position is to be filled initially for a fixed term of 3 years (employment period according to WissZeitVG).
(subject to personal qualifications, remuneration according to TVöD Bund, till pay grade E13)
Development, characterization, and installation of detector control systems for advanced imaging sensors
Design, assembly, testing, and optimization of detector array and camera systems
Programming and integration of detector controllers and electronic subsystems
Collaboration with international partners and interdisciplinary DZA research groups
Preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and test reports
Presentation of development results at international conferences and publication in scientific journals
Contribution to third-party funding proposals and participation in scientific and industrial networks
Completed scientific university degree (Master’s or equivalent) and PhD in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field
Several years of experience in the development and testing of electronic systems and detector technologies
Very good knowledge of CAD software (e.g. OrCAD, Altium) and experience with Linux-based systems
Strong expertise in imaging sensors and detector controller technologies
Programming experience in C++; knowledge of ASIC technologies is advantageous
Experience with integration, testing, and optimization of detector systems; knowledge of cryogenic detector cooling is beneficial
Very good English communication and writing skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and international environment
