Team Lead Payroll (m/f/d)

In this role you own Europe-wide payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while steering a growing in-house payroll function. You lead the German payroll team and influence other European markets, bridging HR, Finance, and Compliance. You’ll drive automation and AI-driven improvements to transform payroll processes. This is a hands-on, leadership-driven position at a company expanding its digital HR capabilities.

• Own end-to-end preliminary payroll processes across Europe ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Lead the German payroll team with disciplinary responsibility and develop local talent
• Upskill and guide other European People Operations Managers on payroll matters
• Serve as internal subject matter expert for complex payroll, income tax, and social security cases
• Interface with HR, Finance, Controlling, and Compliance, translating payroll data for stakeholders
• Evaluate and optimize relationships with external payroll providers and consultancies
• Drive digitalization of payroll processes, optimize HRIS integrations, and automate workflows

• Substantial payroll management experience in an international environment
• Deep hands-on knowledge of German payroll, including income tax and social security
• Experience managing multi-country payrolls across Europe
• Leadership experience with disciplinary responsibility and cross-functional influence
• Fluent in English and German
• Strong problem-solving mindset and hands-on approach to payroll issues
