Team Lead Software Engineering (all genders)
Location: Berlin or Norderstedt, Germany
Contract: Full-time / Indefinite

Responsibilities
- Drive execution of the SaaS platform roadmap, turning strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Lead technical design and architecture for scalable, secure, high-quality solutions.
- Ensure reliable, high-quality delivery by removing blockers and making informed trade-offs.
- Contribute hands‑on through coding, pairing, and solving complex technical challenges.
- Own operational excellence (SLOs, incidents, on‑call, post‑incident improvements).
- Align closely with product management and stakeholders across the organization.
- Represent the SaaS platform in architecture discussions and leadership forums.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers while fostering a strong, collaborative team culture.
What makes you excel in this role
- Strong hands‑on software engineering track record in SaaS product/platform environments, with active coding as a core part of the role.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex technical solutions using architecture and engineering best practices
- Proven capability to operate in a build‑it‑run‑it setup with direct ownership of production incidents, root‑cause analysis, and preventive follow-up actions.
- Solid understanding of engineering quality and delivery KPIs, and ability to use data to drive improvement.
- Experience leading cross‑functional engineering teams while remaining a practicing engineer.
- Strong execution leadership: unblock teams, drive decisions, and deliver outcomes with quality.Operate in a 70% hands‑on / 30% leadership split.
- Effective collaboration with product management and other stakeholders to translate strategy into implementation.
- Experience with people leadership responsibilities including performance management and team development.
- Ability to translate modern technology trends into practical team adoption.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering, with strong recent hands‑on contribution
- 3+ years leading or co‑leading an engineering team in a SaaS environment
- Proven delivery of platform or infrastructure‑level capabilities (not just product features)
- Direct production ownership in a build‑it‑run‑it model
- Track record of mentoring and developing engineers at multiple seniority levels
- Hands‑on proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, or NodeJS (deep expertise in one is required)
