Overview

In this role you will lead and develop the Structural & Mechanical Engineering team within OHB Digital Connect Mainz, guiding project work and proposal activities. You will ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery, optimize resources, and foster knowledge transfer across the department. You’ll shape processes, drive tool adoption, and stay aligned with market and technology trends. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone seasoned in engineering within the space domain who wants to impact satellite ground systems and related hardware development.

Involvement in projects and support for proposal preparation
Professional and disciplinary leadership of the team
Regular evaluation of team performance (timelines, budget, quality) and corrective actions
Workforce planning and capacity planning coordination
Initiation of recruitment and onboarding collaboration with HR
Resource allocation based on competencies and project needs
Providing expert guidance and knowledge transfer, resolving conflicts

Zentrale Anforderungen

University degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
Several years of professional experience in the relevant discipline
Ideally experience in the space industry, especially satellite manufacturing
Strong social and interpersonal skills; excellent communication and collaboration
Analytical thinking, creativity, empathy, and organized, solution-oriented working style
High integrity, objectivity, persuasiveness, and ability to transfer technical knowledge
