Tech Lead (f/m/d) AI & APIs for energy and sustainability management

Stellenbeschreibung:

About the Role

Moving into a sustainable and carbon‑neutral future will require significant changes in the energy sector. Renewable energy and e‑mobility bring new challenges for the power grids of the future. Climate change is requiring us to save energy in buildings, factories, hospitals and data centers. At the same time, we need to ensure the longevity of electrical assets (transformers, switching cabinets, etc.) and increase their capacity to reduce asset investment needs. To do this, software products require strong data sources exposed via APIs, powerful AI forecasts and smart decisions/recommendations – packaged business capabilities. At Siemens Smart Infrastructure, our team of developers, data and AI experts and product managers are dedicated to advancing our products and driving sustainability.

What We Offer You

  • An attractive remuneration package
  • Access to Siemens share plans
  • 30 days of paid vacation and a variety of flexible work schedules that allow time off for you and your family
  • 2 to 3 days of mobile working per week as a global standard
  • Flexible training opportunities for both your professional and personal development that you can tailor to your interests
  • Additional benefits are available, see further information on our benefits portal

Responsibilities

  • Build recommender systems to guide grid planners and grid operators to make grids ready for the future
  • Forecast renewable energy production and energy consumption to optimize factory schedules and efficiency
  • Provide Siemens grid and energy management offerings access to the best data to solve customer problems (e.g., weather, energy prices, …)
  • Guide and mentor the development team by promoting best practices in coding, architecture, and design through hands‑on development, code reviews, and pair programming
  • Make critical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of the software, balancing sprint goals and technical debt
  • Drive the architectural vision in line with the product vision, making pragmatic and cost‑effective design decisions to ensure product scalability, delivery, and maintainability
  • Collaborate with Product managers and Data/AI experts to access technical complexity and shape a long‑term technical vision aligned with the long‑term product vision

Education

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Software Architecture & Development) are a plus.

Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in Python and Java
  • Successful track record in building and deploying machine learning and data pipelines via APIs
  • Proven experience in leading technical teams, preferably in an agile or Scrum‑based environment
  • Hands‑on experience in developing data‑driven applications and APIs on AWS and knowledge of key technologies (incl. Kafka, TimescaleDB, MLFlow, …)
  • Experience in the energy sector or with sustainability projects is a plus
  • Deep understanding of critical data science Python packages (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn, tensorflow, spacy)
