Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing essentially unlimited capacity at the lowest possible cost.

Key Responsibilities

Program management and oversight of construction activities for new builds or capital projects, including ownership of scope, timeline, and budget.
Vendor management.
Ensure construction standards are followed and performance audits are completed; remediate issues before vendor release.
Understand EMEA fiber market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.
Interface with data‑centre providers to drive equipment and circuit installations.
Interpret technical requirements of engineering teams and ensure completed projects meet those requirements.
Create detailed network planning packs to build scalable and future‑proof infrastructure.
Ensure fiber deployment diversity requirements are met.
Maintain deep understanding of the fiber construction process.
Provide risk mitigation, status reporting, and program updates to management and internal customers.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in respective markets.
Create project scopes, equipment requirements, and assist with RFPs and capital requests.
Understand mechanisms used to operate and maintain AWS’ complex fiber‑optic network.
Work across multiple time zones and travel up to 25% of the time.

Day in the Life

Take on projects with ambiguous scope and clarify risks and requirements before deployment.
Formulate comprehensive project execution plans.
Work closely with external partners and internal stakeholders to execute your vision.
Ensure on‑time, high‑quality deliveries for internal customers.

Basic Qualifications

Experience in program or project management.
5+ years of technical infrastructure program management experience.
Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to network infrastructure (optical fiber, network hardware, data centers).
Understanding of the optical fiber industry and markets, fiber characterisation and ability to review fiber test results; strong technical understanding of transport technologies (fiber materials, DWDM, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of fiber‑optic network infrastructure and construction standards.
Familiarity with GIS platforms and quality assurance processes.
Led multiple large network construction programs.
