Psychometrics and Individual Differences
We are seeking a young researcher with a Ph.D. who can develop their own relevant research profile at the intersection of theoretical and methodological issues in differential psychology. The research profile to be developed may, for example, also include specialization and in-depth expertise in the area of (a) the development and refinement of theoretical approaches to the psychological measurement and testing of inter- and intra-individual differences and their formal modeling, (b) the construction and evaluation of corresponding psychological measurement methods and testing instruments, and/or (c) methods of psychological diagnosis in application-oriented subfields.
The teaching focuses on imparting knowledge and skills in the fields of psychological assessment and differential psychology, particularly in the “Bachelor’s in Psychology” and “Master’s in Psychology” programs with a research focus, as well as in the “Master’s in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy.” In particular, the program should address the theoretical foundations of measurement and the skills required to develop and evaluate psychological methods for measuring interindividual differences and intraindividual processes, as well as psychological assessment.
In eaching and research, the university’s international orientation as a European university—or part of the “Young Universities for the Future of Europe” (YUFE: ) alliance—and the requirements for an innovative psychology program in accordance with the new licensing regulations and the guidelines of the German Psychological Society should be taken into account.
The university offers a wide range of opportunities for collaboration within the department and with the research clusters “Health Sciences,” “Mind, Media, Machines,” and “Social Change, Social Policy, and the State.” Within this framework, the tenure-track phase provides the freedom and opportunities to develop an independent research profile that extends beyond one’s existing disciplinary expertise.
Appointments are initially for a fixed term of four years (Pay Grade 14, TV-L). The fixed term is governed by Section 2(1) of the WissZeitVG (Act on Fixed-Term Contracts in Academia). Accordingly, only applicants who still have the required period of qualifying service as specified in Section 2(1) of the WissZeitVG may be considered. In cases where outstanding suitability, performance, and qualifications are demonstrated, the position of Senior Researcher (f/m/d) may be granted on a permanent basis following a successful evaluation (Pay Grade 15, TV-L). The specific teaching obligations are governed by the Teaching Obligations and Teaching Documentation Regulation. They amount to four course hours in the position of Researcher and nine course hours in the position of Senior Researcher.
