VAT Manager (m/f/d)

As VAT Manager, you will shape and strengthen VAT governance within an internation-al business environment. You will combine VAT expertise and system understanding to ensure compliant and efficient VAT operations across the organization. In this role, you will work closely with business and finance stakeholders to drive sustainable improve-ments and support strategic transformation initiatives. You will contribute to reducing compliance risks and establishing robust VAT ownership across the organization. The role plays a key part in supporting tesa's continued growth and digitalization journey. The business case specifically highlights increased VAT regulatory pressure and the need for stronger centralized VAT governance.
Key responsibilities:

• Provide expert (German) VAT advice for business projects and respond to day-to-day VAT questions from internal stakeholders.
• Support the Region Europe on European VAT matters and collaborate closely with local finance and business teams.
• Develop, maintain, communicate, and update VAT policies, guidelines, and in-ternal procedures.
• Design, organize, and coordinate VAT training programs, including the selection of external service providers and the planning and delivery of training activities.
• Support VAT audits and tax authority inquiries by preparing responses and co-ordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Drive the implementation of audit findings related to VAT.
• Review and approve German monthly VAT returns and related VAT compliance obligations.
• Prepare the annual VAT return of German VAT group.
• Review and approve VAT filings and other VAT-related applications of tesa SE across European jurisdictions.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate VAT risks through proactive monitoring, analysis, and implementation of preventive measures for the German VAT group.
• Govern VAT determination logic within SAP and related systems.
  

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tax, Business Administration, Economics, Fi-nance, Law, or a related field.
• Qualification as a German Certified Tax Advisor (Steuerberater*in) is an ad-vantage.
• Strong professional experience in German VAT, gained in an international cor-porate environment or a leading tax advisory firm.
• Experience with VAT regulations across multiple European jurisdictions is con-sidered a plus.
• Strong understanding of VAT regulations and their practical application in com-plex and cross-border business environments.
• Experience with SAP FI, SAP DRC and SAP VAT determination logic.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven, and risk-oriented mindset.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and scalable business solutions.
• Proven stakeholder management and communication skills across functions, regions, and organizational levels.
• Fluent in German and English; additional language skills are considered an ad-vantage.
