Vessel Support Assistant

Summary

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO). Vacancies are available in Ketchikan, AK; Honolulu, HI; Gulfport, MS; Newport, OR; and Newport, RI. The posting is also announced under vacancy number OMAO- -ST, which is open to Status Candidates. Major Duties

• Assist with office administration tasks, including Time & Attendance (T&A), Pay and Leave, and travel arrangements.
• Ensure timely and accurate accounting in accordance with guidelines and procedures.
• Support administrative functions related to vessel commands.
• Support the administrative officer by acting on administrative matters relating to new or revised personnel requirements, regulations procedures, and administrative files.

NOTE: These duties are described at the full performance level of the ZS‑04; the ZS‑03 is developmental leading to such performance. This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS), where positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZS‑3 is equivalent to GS‑5/6, and the ZS‑4 is equivalent to GS‑7/8.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle and the holder must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate a government vehicle in the completion of assigned tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
