Private Equity-Backed Software Business | Lower Saxony | €150,000

The Opportunity

Finatal is partnering with an established private equity-backed B2B software company entering an important phase of transformation and growth.

The business provides enterprise software solutions to a longstanding customer base across a range of commercial and public-sector end markets. Having built a strong market position, the company is now focused on accelerating its transition towards a fully recurring SaaS model, professionalising its internal infrastructure and scaling significantly over the coming years.

Currently at c. ~10M ARR and growing to c. ~30M ARR over the investment cycle.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, board and private equity investor, taking ownership of the finance function and helping build the systems, reporting and commercial insight required for the company’s next stage of development.

The Role

This is a hands-on finance leadership position within a lean and entrepreneurial environment.

The incoming finance leader will be expected to operate strategically while remaining close to the detail. They will initially focus on strengthening the finance function, improving management information and introducing more scalable processes, before playing an increasingly important role in growth planning, investor engagement and value creation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Taking overall responsibility for the finance function
• Professionalising financial reporting, controlling and management information
• Developing robust budgeting, forecasting and liquidity-planning processes
• Building scalable KPI reporting to support the company’s transition towards SaaS
• Improving visibility over recurring revenue, retention, customer economics and commercial performance
• Supporting the CEO and leadership team with analysis, business cases and decision support
• Automating manual finance processes and improving the systems environment
• Strengthening financial controls, governance and reporting disciplines
• Acting as a key point of contact for the board, shareholders, lenders and external advisers
• Supporting financing, M&A and broader growth initiatives where required
• Leading and developing the finance team as the business scales

The successful candidate will offer:

• Strong fundamentals across accounting, controlling, FP&A and cash management
• Previous responsibility for a broad finance function or substantial part of one
• Experience improving reporting, processes, systems or financial controls
• A commercial and analytical approach to finance
• The ability to translate financial information into clear business recommendations
• Experience operating in a growing, changing or entrepreneurial organisation
• Confidence engaging with a CEO, board and external investors
• A hands‑on and low‑ego leadership style
• Strong German and English language skills

Experience within software, SaaS, technology or another recurring-revenue environment would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

Previous private equity experience is also beneficial but not mandatory. The company is open to candidates from VC-backed, founder-owned or corporate environments who can demonstrate the pace, ownership and commercial judgement required in a private equity-backed business.
