Investment Banking Vice President – Generalist M&A – Frankfurt

Metis Search are currently partnered with a leading boutique investment bank looking to appoint a Vice President to its Frankfurt team.

The firm advises on complex M&A transactions and strategic corporate finance matters across Germany and Europe, working closely with senior decision-makers, corporates and financial sponsors.

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded investment banking platform in an execution-focused environment, offering significant responsibility, direct client exposure and the opportunity to play a key role in leading transactions and developing junior team members.

The role offers a blend of strategic and sponsor-driven M&A across a broad range of sectors, with involvement across the full transaction lifecycle, from origination and pitching through to execution and completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions and strategic advisory mandates.
• Manage transaction processes from origination and initial analysis through to negotiation and completion.
• Oversee financial modelling, valuation and transaction analysis, including DCF, LBO, comparable company and precedent transaction analyses.
• Lead the preparation of client presentations, information memoranda, management presentations and other transaction materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior client stakeholders, management teams, advisers and financial sponsors.
• Work closely with senior leadership on business development, pitching and origination initiatives.
• Manage multiple transaction workstreams, ensuring high-quality execution and effective coordination across all parties.
• Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance on technical work, transaction execution and client management.

Candidate Profile

• At least 5 years of experience in investment banking, M&A advisory or a comparable transaction-oriented environment.
• Strong end-to-end M&A execution experience, ideally across both strategic and sponsor-driven transactions.
• Excellent technical foundation in financial modelling, valuation and corporate finance.
• Broad sector exposure is advantageous given the generalist nature of the team.
• Demonstrated ability to lead transaction workstreams and manage complex processes independently.
• Proven experience managing client relationships and contributing to business development and origination.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing junior bankers.
• Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
