Join our university in the Faculty of Construction and Environment: W2‑Professorship Aquatic Ecology at the next possible date. Campus Detmold and campus Höxter. Permanent, full‑time position. OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts serves about 5,700 students in Lemgo, Detmold, Höxter and fosters interdisciplinary exchange within a dynamic region of East Westphalia‑Lippe.

Responsibilities

• Teach Environmental Sciences and Environmental Engineering programmes in limnology and ecology. Courses taught in German, up to 25% of teaching may be digital.
• Conduct courses also in English and promote interdisciplinary study formats, e.g., practical student projects.
• Conduct research in limnology and ecology, develop innovative communication formats that encourage dialogue between science and society.
• Shape the future of the field, including laboratory and degree programmes.
• Engage in national and international collaborations and contribute to knowledge transfer.
• Participate in university‑level committee work and expand cooperation relationships with domestic and foreign universities.

Qualifications

• In‑depth knowledge of limnology and ecology; additional experience desired in qualitative water management, water protection, biodiversity and species identification.
• Compliance with §36 Hochschulgesetz NRW; completed relevant degree in natural sciences; successfully completed doctorate; at least five years of professional experience, at least three years outside the university sector.
• Additional expertise in ecosystem services, environmental monitoring, climate‑resilient water resource management, digitalisation in water quality management, and innovative communication.
• Experience in managing research staff, leading a laboratory, and in research administration.
• Strong communication skills and an innovative, communicative personality.
