In Department V – Law at Trier University, the following position is to be filled as of 1 April 2027 with lifetime tenure as a civil servant:

W3 Professorship in German Public Law, German and International Financial and Tax Law (m/f/x)

The University is seeking a scholar who will represent the fields named in this call in both research and teaching across their full breadth, with particular emphasis on international tax law. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department’s legal education programme in the compulsory curriculum as well as in specialisation area 7, “German and International Tax Law.”

Experience in acquiring third-party funding is required.The ability to teach undergraduate courses in German is required. The ability to also teach these courses in English or French is considered an asset. Willingness to contribute to existing or future Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree programmes within the Department is desirable.

The official duties associated with the position are set out in Section 48 of the Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (HochSchG). The formal appointment requirements are governed by Section 49 HochSchG. Reference is also made to Section 50 (5), sentences 5 and 6, HochSchG.
