Warehouse Operations Manager

Overview

As a Warehouse Operations Manager you lead the entire operational team in the warehouse. You are ultimately responsible for warehouse operations, health and safety and quality control. You coach and lead your team in the achievement of daily objectives whilst monitoring the performance of customer KPIs. You are always striving to improve the current way of working. You provide the most reliable and efficient service to our customers at the lowest possible cost. You develop and implement a strategy to create customizable solutions based on customer needs, while maintaining standard product offerings.

Als Warehouse Operations Manager führen Sie das gesamte operative Team im Lager. Sie tragen die Gesamtverantwortung für den Lagerbetrieb, Arbeitssicherheit sowie Qualitätsmanagement. Sie coachen und führen Ihr Team, um die täglichen Ziele zu erreichen, und überwachen gleichzeitig die Leistung anhand von kundenspezifischen KPIs. Dabei streben Sie kontinuierlich Verbesserungen der bestehenden Arbeitsweisen an. Ihr Ziel ist es, unseren Kunden den zuverlässigsten und effizientesten Service zu den geringstmöglichen Kosten zu bieten. Darüber hinaus entwickeln und implementieren Sie Strategien zur Erstellung kundenindividueller Lösungen, während Sie gleichzeitig standardisierte Produktangebote sicherstellen.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the warehouse operational team, including entry‑level staff and supervisors.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety and quality procedures.
• Monitor and improve customer KPIs and internal performance metrics.
• Develop and implement customized solutions for customers while maintaining standard product lines.
• Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
• Handle most operational situations independently, seeking guidance on complex issues.
• Apply subject‑matter knowledge to solve common business problems and follow established policies.
• Escalate non‑routine issues in accordance with procedures.
• Continuously improve operational processes and systems.
• Ensure smooth hand‑over of tasks and optimize communication between teams during shift transfers.
• Maintain accurate daily updates in the Warehouse Management System (e.g., production results, system faults, stock deviations).
• Prepare and provide necessary reporting to the Site Manager.

Qualifications

• +7 years of experience in contract logistics, especially in a customer‑facing role.
• +5 years of experience managing and leading a warehouse operations team.
• Experience working in an international matrix organization with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
• Lean thinking and continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong, proactive personality: passionate, holistic view, courageous, culturally adaptable, result‑oriented, optimistic, stress resistant.
• Process‑oriented approach with high attention to detail.
• Resilient team player, goal‑oriented, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Passion for operational excellence and for people and team development.
• Excellent German and English skills.
