About the role

The Youth Participation Officer is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of innovative youth participation programs, events and activities that meet the identified needs of young people within the City of Merri‑bek.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Sciences, Social Work or related field with relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in preparing reports.
  • Demonstrated skills in working with young people, including provision of individual support.
  • Demonstrated experience developing programmes and activities for young people using a youth participation approach.
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • A current Working with Children Check Card.
  • Workplace First Aid.
  • Local Government experience preferred.
