Title : Global Data Leader – Reinsurance (Confidential Executive Search)

Location : Flexible European base | Travel across UK, France, Germany

Type : Permanent | Hybrid (2–3 days onsite)

Overview

A global reinsurance group is seeking a senior data leader to define and deliver a transformative data strategy across its international operations. This newly created role will shape how data is governed, leveraged, and embedded into underwriting, risk, actuarial, and operational decision-making.

Operating at both enterprise and divisional levels, the successful candidate will lead a high-performing data team and collaborate cross-functionally to build a data-driven culture and deliver trusted insights across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the reinsurance data function, defining strategy, governance, tooling, and reporting frameworks
• Design and implement target data architecture aligned with global standards
• Drive data maturity assessments and strategic roadmaps across ingestion, management, and compliance
• Lead execution of data initiatives including acquisition, stewardship, protection, and analytics enablement
• Govern tooling and platforms for warehousing, metadata, operational stores, and analytics
• Manage data budgets and ensure delivery within financial targets
• Champion data as a strategic asset across global reinsurance regions

Leadership & Collaboration

• Build and mentor inclusive, high-performing teams with deep reinsurance data expertise
• Influence senior stakeholders and promote a culture of innovation and insight
• Oversee cross-functional collaboration to ensure data strategies meet market and regulatory needs

Capability Development & Compliance

• Develop reinsurance-specific data models and integrate disparate systems
• Partner with enterprise data and IT teams to optimize infrastructure and shared assets
• Ensure adherence to global regulatory frameworks including Solvency II, data protection, and conduct risk policies

Ideal Candidate

• Proven track record in senior data leadership roles within reinsurance or insurance
• Deep understanding of reinsurance data processes (e.g. bordereaux, exposure, actuarial modelling)
• Experience with enterprise data platforms, governance, and tooling
• Strong stakeholder management and strategic planning capabilities
• Comfortable operating in complex, multinational environments
