Overview

Developer for Smart-TV-Applications (m/w/d), 100% Remote. For our client, a renowned German media company, we are looking for two experienced freelancers to develop smart TV applications.

Project Information

• Start Date: October 15, 2025
• Duration: Until December 15, 2025, with a total of 520 hours
• Location: 100% remote
• Project Language: English

Responsibilities

• You will design and develop sophisticated, web-based applications for various Smart TV platforms.
• You will be responsible for the cross-platform deployment and maintenance of applications on operating systems such as Tizen, Vidaa, and webOS.
• You will integrate modern video players (e.g., Shaka Player, AVPlay) and optimize streaming performance using protocols like DASH and HLS.
• You will implement and manage Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies (PlayReady, Widevine) to secure video content.
• You will design and implement intuitive, TV-specific user interfaces (UI/UX) to ensure an excellent user experience.
• You will analyze application performance on embedded systems and carry out targeted optimizations to increase efficiency.

Skills / Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience in developing Smart TV applications, ideally on web-based platforms.
• A proven track record in building and deploying applications for common Smart TV operating systems (Tizen, Vidaa, webOS).
• Solid knowledge of TypeScript and the integration of video players (e.g., Shaka Player, AVPlay).
• Expertise in video streaming technologies (DASH/HLS), DRM systems (PlayReady, Widevine), and designing TV-specific UI/UX patterns.
• A deep understanding of video technologies and their underlying functionalities.
• Experience in performance optimization for embedded systems is an advantage.
