Salary: Up to €135,000 per annum + benefits

We're recruiting on behalf of a fast-scaling technology company looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead platform engineering, take ownership of its platform strategy and lead multiple teams. This role is ideal for a senior engineering leader who thrives on shaping technical direction, scaling systems, and building a strong engineering culture.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Own the technical vision and long-term architecture for the core platform that powers consumer apps and internal tooling.
• Build and evolve scalable, secure and maintainable platform services that accelerate product squads and improve developer productivity.
• Lead and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, high quality and career growth.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, QA and executive leadership to ensure engineering delivery aligns with business outcomes.
• Improve developer experience, remove blockers to delivery and raise technical standards across the organisation.
• Ensure a reliable, secure, and high performing platform as it scales.

The person we’re looking for

• Senior software engineering leader (Director / Head of Engineering) with demonstrable experience leading multiple engineering teams.
• Extensive experience in platform architecture, distributed systems and building scalable, maintainable services.
• Proven track record of growing high-performing teams and developing engineering leaders.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills; able to translate business needs into technical strategy.

Desirable background

• Experience with cloud-native platforms, APIs and web/mobile frameworks.
• Prior exposure to regulated industries (banking, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or other regulated sectors) is a plus.
• German language skills and experience working across multi-lingual, multi-cultural teams would be advantageous.
• Masters degree in related discipline

Qualifications & experience

• Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or similar discipline
• Extensive experience in software engineering with at least 3 years in senior engineering leadership roles.
