Full Professorship (W 3) for Business Taxation — NEW Full-time Research and Instruction. The Faculty of Economics and Behavioral Sciences of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W 3) for Business Taxation in the Institute for Economics.

Description

This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.

The future incumbent is expected to publish in prestigious national and international journals and commentaries as well as engage in scientific projects relevant to business taxation. Desirable is a methodological mix of normative-deductive and positive tax theory, the economic analysis of law and empirical tax research. The Institute welcomes in particular applicants who deal with future-oriented, practice-relevant research questions related to, inter alia, digital transformation in tax law, the integration of sustainability dimensions (e.g., intergenerational fairness, environmental safety, climate change) in taxation, international tax law, group tax law and the tax law of non-profit organizations. Successful completion of a tax advisor certificate is an asset, but not required.

In teaching, the professorship has to represent business taxation in all its dimensions in the bachelor’s and master’s programs in economics and business sciences. In addition, lectures and seminars are to be offered to students of the Faculty of Law. The teaching includes basic lectures as well as advanced modules, held in German and English. Based on an extensive and relevant teaching experience, the future incumbent is expected to apply innovative teaching tools (e.g., e-learning) in addition to traditional classroom teaching. Furthermore, the professor to be hired is expected to actively participate in existing collaborations within and beyond the Faculty of Economics and Behavioral Sciences to (further) develop innovative, interdisciplinary study contents, e.g., in the "Center for Business and Law". The position includes the managing of two existing executive master’s programs (Tax Master, MBA International Taxation).

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
