Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Hardware Field Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and develop our team of hardware experts. You will oversee the complete lifecycle of our cutting‑edge ECU hardware projects, from initial design through to production and lifetime service. This pivotal role serves as the primary interface between our global hardware teams and key automotive clients, where you will translate technical requirements, manage stakeholder expectations, and ensure seamless communication.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and guide a team of hardware experts, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary interface between the hardware team in Berlin, the hardware team in the US, and VWG car‑brand clients; manage expectations, translate technical requirements, and ensure clear communication.
  • Project Steering: Oversee the full lifecycle of ECU hardware projects, from initial design to production and lifetime service activities, ensuring on‑time, on‑scope, high‑quality delivery.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance, support hardware bring‑up, diagnostics, debugging, and troubleshooting complex hardware challenges.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and proactively address potential risks and roadblocks to protect the team’s workflow and project timelines.
  • Issue Management: Handle internal and external tickets; create tracking and reporting, interacting with brands and internal departments.
  • Manufacturing Support: Support production processes and provide feedback on production lines for the brands.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of proven experience in a leadership role, preferably as a team lead or senior engineer in automotive electronics or embedded systems.
  • Deep technical expertise in ECU hardware and automotive hardware design.
  • Strong understanding of the automotive development process and experience working with car manufacturers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills; ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
