The Opportunity

A European engineering and construction group is seeking an experienced finance leader to stabilize and transform its international finance function during a phase of growth and structural change. The role offers the opportunity to build robust financial systems and governance frameworks, lead a small international team, and drive transparency, control and efficiency across all entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial & Operational Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of the group’s finance function, including accounting, reporting, treasury and cash management.
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly closings and consolidated reporting.
• Partner with the board and senior management to provide financial analysis and strategic decision support.

• Transformation & Process Improvement: Implement modern systems and processes to increase efficiency and data reliability.
• Lead digitalization initiatives (ERP, BI, forecasting tools) and reduce dependency on external partners.
• Strengthen forecasting, cashflow management and KPI transparency for management reporting.

• Controls, Governance & Compliance: Design and embed a robust internal control framework.
• Enhance financial security in cooperation with external advisors.
• Ensure compliance with HGB standards and effective group reporting to international stakeholders.

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach and develop a small finance team.
• Build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, fostering strong collaboration with HR and Operations.

What You Bring

• Degree in finance, accounting, or business administration; CPA, ACCA or comparable qualification advantageous.
• 10+ years of professional experience in accounting, controlling, or group finance roles within international, project-based industries such as engineering, technical services or construction.
• Proven track record in finance transformation and system implementation.
• Strong HGB knowledge and sound understanding of reporting, compliance and governance processes.
• Hands-on leadership style and flexibility, capable of balancing strategic oversight and operational execution.
• Fluent in English and German (C1 minimum).
• Eligibility to work in the EU.
