As integral part of Fresenius Group HRLT, Total Rewards is globally accountable for designing and managing a comprehensive approach to attract, motivate, and retain talent by aligning rewards with business goals and employee needs. This includes competitive Compensation packages and a well‑rounded suite of Benefits that support employees’ well‑being and security. Lastly, Job Evaluation and Career Frameworks provide structured, transparent pathways for growth, ensuring fair and consistent evaluation and career development across roles and levels.

Main purpose of the role:

The Head of Global Rewards Product & Governance is responsible for leading the strategic review, redesign, and governance of globally integrated Total Rewards products at Fresenius. This role oversees a team of Global Product Owners (GPOs) across key product areas including:
Long‑Term Incentives (LTI)
Merit, Fair Pay & Global Compensation Review
Performance Management & Short‑Term Incentives (STI)
Global Job Architecture & Pay Bands
Grading & Benchmarking

In a time of transformation, this role plays a critical part in rethinking and rebuilding Total Rewards products to ensure they are future‑ready, aligned with Fresenius Group's strategic objectives, and embedded in a globally harmonized framework. The role emphasizes practical implementation, stakeholder alignment, and technology enablement—particularly through the global Workday ecosystem—to drive consistency, transparency, and employee‑centric outcomes.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Redevelopment of Global Rewards Products: Drive the transformation and modernization of Total Rewards products by guiding the review, redesign, and implementation of globally integrated frameworks. Ensure each product area—LTI, STI, Merit, Performance Management, Job Architecture, and Benchmarking—is aligned with Fresenius' strategic goals and evolving business needs.
  • Coach and Coordinate the Global Product Owner Team: Provide hands‑on leadership to the GPOs, ensuring consistent methodologies, shared priorities, and cross‑product alignment. Foster a collaborative team culture focused on delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Embed Governance and Compliance: Establish and maintain governance standards across all product areas. Ensure compliance with local and global regulations, and support audit readiness and risk mitigation through structured oversight.
  • Enable Technology and Implementation: Oversee the practical enablement of Total Rewards products through Workday and other digital tools. Ensure that technology supports scalable, data‑driven, and user‑friendly solutions.
  • Integrate and Align Products Across the Rewards Landscape: Ensure seamless integration of Total Rewards products with related initiatives such as EU Pay Transparency, Pay Bands, Total Rewards Statements, and Grading. Promote a unified employee experience and operational consistency.
  • Leverage Data and Market Insights: Guide the team in using internal data (e.g., employee feedback, cost analysis) and external benchmarks to inform product design. Identify opportunities for segmentation to tailor rewards for high‑impact roles or regions.
  • Drive Change and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a change leader by building alignment across global HR teams, business stakeholders, and other product/process owners. Ensure that new or revised products are well‑communicated, adopted, and embedded in the broader #OneHR and #HRTransformation strategy.

Qualifications:

  • University degree and at least 10 years of international experience in Total Rewards, Compensation & Benefits, or related HR domains.
  • Proven experience in global product or process ownership, particularly in the design, deployment, and governance of Merit and STI programs.
  • Strong expertise in Workday and other core HR technology systems, with the ability to leverage data for strategic insights.
  • Experience in integrating Total Rewards products with broader HR initiatives such as Pay Transparency, Benchmarking, and LTIs.
  • Proficiency in process optimization and agile project management methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen and a creative, solution‑oriented mindset to balance diverse stakeholder priorities.
  • Strategic and people‑oriented thinking with a focus on maximizing process efficiency and employee experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
  • Experience working in in‑house consulting or transformation roles is highly desirable.
