Your tasks as Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/x)

As an Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/x), you will play a key role in shaping the technical basis of the Salesfive Group. Your role combines operational system administration with strategic infrastructure planning: you look after virtual and physical systems, develop automation solutions, implement monitoring and backup strategies and contribute to security and architecture decisions. You will contribute your expertise in Linux, Windows, virtualization, IaaS platforms and automation and support the continuous optimization of our infrastructure. With your commitment, you ensure that our technical environment remains efficient, secure and future-oriented.

This is how you help us make digitalization tangible:

• Create and manage virtual machines with Proxmox
• Configure, maintain and optimize open source software in our infrastructure
• Analyze errors and reliably rectify infrastructure problems
• Design and implement backup strategies including tests
• Set up monitoring and patch management systems
• Responsible for the setup and configuration of physical servers as required
• Participate in infrastructure planning and architecture decisions, including data center initiatives
• Support with safety decisions and their implementation
• Take on administrative tasks in dealing with database software
• Work with IaaS platforms and develop automation scripts and build systems
• Contribute to infrastructure standardization and optimization projects

This is what you should bring with you:

• Profound Linux knowledge in system configuration and administration, network configuration and troubleshooting as well as security implementation and best practices
• Experience in the administration of Windows server environments
• Experience in the administration of database software (no DBA role)
• Practical knowledge in dealing with cloud/IaaS platforms
• Experience with automation and scripting languages, knowledge of build systems such as Jenkins/GitHub Actions is an advantage
• Experience with virtual machines (VMs), Docker containerization and Proxmox virtualization platform
• Driving license for occasional on-site assignments at the Hattingen location
• Ability to physically set up and configure server hardware
• Strategic thinking for infrastructure planning
• Self-motivation, analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
• Very good knowledge of German and a good command of English for technical communication
