About Peter Capital

Peter Capital is a privately held single family office with a proprietary and entrepreneurial investment approach. We trade exclusively with private capital, combining rigorous research with active, tactical portfolio management. Our focus lies on U.S. equities and derivatives, particularly across technology, biotechnology, and other structural growth sectors.

We operate in an agile, conviction-driven manner — similar to a proprietary trading desk rather than a traditional asset manager. Our goal is to identify asymmetric opportunities early, validate them through disciplined analysis, and translate insight into performance.

Role Overview

As Investment Manager – Public Markets, you will play a central role in shaping and executing Peter Capital’s investment strategy.

You’ll combine research depth, strategic thinking, and hands-on market execution — from generating ideas and analyzing companies to designing trades and managing exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Idea Generation
    • Identify high-conviction themes, sectors, and companies with structural growth or near-term catalysts.
    • Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis to evaluate business models, financials, and valuation dynamics.
    • Track M&A, special situations, and corporate events to uncover asymmetric opportunities.
    • Translate insights into actionable trades — defining entry/exit points, derivative overlays, and risk/reward profiles.
    • Contribute to overall portfolio construction and capital allocation decisions within pre-defined risk limits.
    • Collaborate with the Principal on macro alignment and thematic exposure.
    • Execute and monitor positions, ensuring disciplined risk management and performance tracking.
    • Provide ongoing updates on catalysts, sentiment, and liquidity dynamics.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of research and execution frameworks.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Deliver concise, insight-driven investment notes and recommendations.
    • Participate in internal investment discussions and strategy reviews.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; CFA or similar credentials are an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in active trading, equity research, or portfolio strategy — ideally within a hedge fund, proprietary trading, or family-office environment.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of U.S. equities, derivatives, and global macro drivers; familiarity with special situations (takeovers, restructurings, spin-offs) is a plus.
  • Mindset: Independent, disciplined, and entrepreneurial; thrives in a small, high-trust environment with direct accountability for results.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and written communication in English; comfort with modern data and trading tools (e.g., Bloomberg, TradingView, Python or Excel-based models).
