Wandelbots Dresden
Stellenbeschreibung:
    Job Description

    Your mission

As a (Junior) Software Engineer (C++/Python) at Wandelbots, you will be part of our Robotics Platform Team. This team connects robots with their surrounding environment: e.g. end-of-arm effectors, cameras, sensors, and industrial bus systems. You will also contribute to adding new robot models to our platform and build automated test setups that ensure long-term stability of our software.

From your first day, you will work closely with experienced engineers, benefit from onboarding tools that help you grow into your role, and gain exposure to a wide field of robotics technologies — from periphery devices and fieldbus connections to system-level integration.

We value pragmatic problem-solving: as simple as possible, as complex as necessary.

    Your tasks

    • You integrate and maintain periphery devices (grippers, cameras, sensors, force/torque tools)
    • You enable using industrial fieldbus systems (e.g. PROFINET, OPCUA) through our platform
    • You support the addition of new robot models and work on tooling to speed up that process
    • You contribute to setting up and extending automated test setups (hardware-in-the-loop)

    Your profile

    • You have a university degree in a MINT field
    • You are proficient in C++ or Python (ideally both)
    • You are familiar with Linux development, Git, and basic networking/TCP concepts
    • You are curious and hands-on with hardware - not afraid of doing what it needs to add the hardware to our system
    • You are fluent in English (written and spoken) - working language is English
    • You are willing to work on-site in Dresden to interact with our physical hardware (Hybrid models possible)

    You are awesome if

    • You have experience with fieldbus protocols (PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, IO-Link)
    • You bring knowledge of camera systems ( 2D/3D ) or basic 3D perception
    • You know End-of-arm-tool vendors (e.g., Robotiq, OnRobot, Schunk) or force/torque sensors
    • You are familiar with GitLab CI, Docker, or automated test frameworks (pytest/gtest)
    • You’ve worked with robot brands such as ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, Yaskawa, UR, etc.
    • Friends say: you are a team player, open, communicative, passionate, and ambitious
    • Colleagues say: you love challenges, solve problems in a self-initiated and reliable way, and stay curious
