It is an exciting time to join the Carbon Trust Europe team. With climate action high on the political and business agenda, this role will offer you the responsibility for day-to-day project delivery management and managing sales relationships with both existing and new clients, in line with the Carbon Trust’s business plan.
To succeed in this role you will be a highly motivated, committed and talented individual who can work well with people at various levels within client organisations, and colleagues, to identify and capture revenue-growth opportunities, manage day-to-day project delivery and client relationships, and adapt services where appropriate to meet client needs.
Operating within an international matrix structure, you will provide deep technical knowledge of carbon and environmental topics to corporate prospects and clients.
You should be interested in developing a career in both business development and technical project delivery within the sustainability consulting sector. Specific experience in delivering and selling advisory and assurance services will be advantageous, as will industry experience in key target sectors across the agri and manufacturing sector.

The position can be based with either our Amsterdam or Berlin team. (In Amsterdam the position will be offered initially as a 6 month fixed term contract, with the intention to extend by 2 years before becoming permanent).

In this role your responsibilities will broadly be divided between Business Development and Sales (60%), and Managing Project Delivery (40%).
As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in driving the Carbon Trust’s commercial growth by owning an individual sales target and contributing to broader business development objectives. You will develop and execute sales strategies, proactively identify, develop, pitch and close opportunities with new and existing clients, and build strong relationships to ensure expectations are met and issues resolved promptly.You will lead and manage projects ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget. This includes overseeing analytical processes, framing problems, defining hypotheses, and developing data-driven approaches to deliver impactful decarbonisation insights and recommendations. You will also lead complex analyses and verification projects, such as footprint-based impact assessments, climate risk financial analysis, and decarbonisation roadmap development.
In addition, you will oversee and quality-assure the work of Analysts and Associates, including extensive data modelling in Excel, while coaching and mentoring team members to support their professional growth. You will contribute to practice development initiatives, such as knowledge sharing and proposition development, helping to strengthen the Carbon Trust’s capabilities and offerings as well as the promotion of Carbon Trust services through speaking at and attending appropriate sustainability events and profiling Carbon Trust capability and impact stories through personal social media
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate evidence of the following skills:
Degree in Economics, Finance, Science, Engineering, Business, Sustainability, Environment, Energy or Climate related subject, or equivalent experience.
Experience of supporting selling at key global and national account level or experience of a customer facing customer service role.
Significant experience in leading and managing projects with professional track record of achievement in areas relevant to the role’s scope of responsibilities.
Direct experience of working with corporate clients in a professional services setting, preferably in mainland Europe, is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of carbon management, lifecycle analysis, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
Fluency in oral and written English (other European languages are an advantage).
Experienced in approaching and meeting customers, engaging both face-to-face, on the phone or through email, social media and partner channels.
Resilient, tenacious, and keen to grasp a new opportunity.
A collaborative and personable team player who is also capable and comfortable as a self-starter, physically working away from the office when required.
