On Call Data Center Hardware Technician - 6841

Summit Technologies Inc. has an on-call / part-time position available for a Data Center Hardware Technician. In this position, you will provide on-call touch labor for onsite hardware repair and installation support of HPE Storage Arrays, ISS servers, and network products. You must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance. This on-site position is in Stuttgart, Germany. All candidates must have an active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance and be able to maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 25kg (55 lbs). Potential candidates will need to already have TESA Accreditation.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide touch labor support activities for all hardware on the raised floor, including cycling power on devices, verification of cabling, verification of power, re-cabling, device component replacement, and device relocation as required.
• IT Hardware Installation, Integration, and Configuration (including servers and storage devices).
• Physically install IT hardware including standalone servers, blade servers, server enclosures, and other hardware.
• Install and cable storage hardware such as Enterprise Arrays, NAS devices, storage switches, data replication devices, hard drives, HBAs, and related hardware.
• Perform independent verification and validation on baseline hardware.
• Hand over installed hardware to technical/operational staff after completion of installation and configuration.
• Other on-site hardware touch labor support, such as power-cycling servers, reseating switch cards, and replacing failed communications in coordination with system administrators.
• Perform de-installation of IT hardware and components, including servers and storage.
• Prepare components for disposition following hardware provider instructions.
• Relocate IT hardware to designated locations for disposition or retrieval.
• Provide Data Center logistical support.

Education & Certification:

• Bachelor's degree with 10 years of technical experience or associate degree with 14 years of technical experience.
• Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD 8570 ADP IT - Level II certification.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years of hardware experience in the IT industry.
• Minimum 7 years of experience supporting internal users with diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging routing hardware, software, or networking equipment.
• Experience installing and configuring Windows and UNIX servers.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting blade servers and enclosures.
• Ability to follow action plans and procedures.
• Enterprise hardware troubleshooting skills.
• Hands-on experience in data center environments, including DoD data centers is a plus.
• Able to maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 25kg (55 lbs).

Security Requirements:

• Active DoD Top Secret / SCI clearance required for consideration.
