Overview

Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d) at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology in Freising, focused on intestinal inflammation and epithelial cell biology. Immediate opening with funding for 3 - 6 years, with the option to enter a habilitation program (3 + 3 years) and a salary according to TV-L 13.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead research on mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal inflammation (IBD) and the interaction of bacterial signals at the intestinal epithelial interface in murine models and in IBD patients.
  • Apply and develop methods in intestinal epithelial cell biology, cellular metabolism, and mitochondrial function.
  • Utilize mouse models and ex vivo organoid culture; contribute to project planning, data analysis, and manuscript preparation.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology and the ZIEL - Institute for Food & Health at TUM.

Qualifications

  • Strong track record in intestinal epithelial cell biology, cellular metabolism, and mitochondrial function.
  • Experience with mouse models and ex vivo organoid culture is a prerequisite.
  • Aim and commitment to excellence in a highly productive research environment.

About Us

The research activities at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology, led by Prof. Dr. Dirk Haller, focus on the interplay of nutrition and the intestinal microbiome in shaping human health. The team investigates microbial mediators in intestinal tissue injury and healing, with a focus on mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal inflammation and integration of signals at the epithelial interface. The Chair is part of ZIEL – Institute for Food & Health at TUM and is supported by the DFG-funded CRC 1371 (
