The research activities at the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology, led by Prof. Dr. Dirk Haller, focus on the interplay of nutrition and the intestinal microbiome in shaping human health. The team investigates microbial mediators in intestinal tissue injury and healing, with a focus on mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal inflammation and integration of signals at the epithelial interface. The Chair is part of ZIEL – Institute for Food & Health at TUM and is supported by the DFG-funded CRC 1371 (
