Your mission

In tech, we have two main work streams:

• Heartbeat: Building a virtual power plant leveraging our energy manager “Heartbeat” and evolving the customer experience app around this
• Operating System for installation companies: Digitisation of operations and processes from ground operations to rooftop installations

At 1KOMMA5°, we are seeking a top-tier Principal Software Engineer who leads with clarity, decisiveness, and deep technical insight. You will shape and own critical architectural decisions, drive alignment across teams, and ensure execution at the highest technical standard.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Shape the organisation's technical strategy and innovation efforts
• Ensure consistent execution of technical decisions by setting clear direction and holding teams accountable
• Align our software architecture closely with product management to support current and future product directions
• Lead architectural efforts to enable scalable, maintainable, and state-of-the-art solutions
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Address and resolve deep technical challenges with urgency and accuracy
• Mentor and challenge engineers to accelerate their growth
• Build and scale a high-performance tech organisation and engineering culture

Technologies you will work with include:

• Typescript/JavaScript/NodeJS (VueJS/NestJS)
• Ruby on Rails
• Flutter (Dart)
• Google Cloud Platform
• Terraform
• GitHub Actions
• IoT applications

Your profile

You have:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in software development across multiple programming languages
• A proven record of architecting scalable and secure systems, with a strong focus on quality
• Experience designing and implementing APIs for seamless system integration
• An agile, result-oriented mindset emphasizing collaboration
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders in business terms and understand technical implications
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and making critical technical decisions in fast-paced environments
• Excellent English communication skills; German proficiency is a plus

Bonus points for:

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform)
• Interest in climate tech industry
