W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate Professor; to begin as soon as possible.
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Life Sciences / Department of Life Science Systems.
The responsibilities include research and teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of crop production with a focus on food security and innovation of cropping systems.
The goal of this professorship is to establish and implement the biological and technical innovations necessary for the further development and redesign of agricultural crop production. Research in this direction shall strengthen food security both locally and globally, while aligning with the Sustainability Development Goals.
A key focus will be the integration of cutting‑edge technologies — such as digitalization — into crop production systems to drive innovations that combine productivity with conservation of natural resources. These themes will play a central role in the education and training of students and emerging scientists, equipping the next generation with the skills needed to address future agricultural challenges.
Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs (BSc Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, MSc Agricultural Systems Science, MSc programs Agricultural BioSciences and Sustainable Resource Management).
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (see the TUM faculty recruitment FAQ for further information).
A university degree, an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, and pedagogical aptitude are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
