Based on the LLVM toolchain, Kotlin/Native is an advanced compiler and runtime for the Kotlin language, supporting a wide range of targets. A lot of attention is devoted to smooth interoperability, both direct (using C and Objective-C libraries from Kotlin) and reverse (using Kotlin libraries from C, Objective-C, and Swift).

Kotlin/Native plays a significant role in Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), powering many iOS applications under the hood. The technology is used by well-known companies such as Google, Netflix, Reddit, and others.

We are currently looking for a QA Engineer to join the Kotlin Native team.

Responsibilities

• Support and evolve automated test configurations, defining what should be tested and configuring automated tests using the TeamCity Kotlin DSL.
• Work in tandem with software engineers on exploratory testing of the compiler, its runtime, as well as the language and its interaction with other languages – this concerns both new functionality and changes to the existing functionality.
• Suggest and implement ideas to improve the developer experience.
• Perform manual and automatic exploratory and regression testing on user projects.
• Take part in planning, including creating plans for testing the corresponding changes.
• Explore and analyze the subject area while applying your knowledge to search for and highlight existing and potential problems.

We’ll be happy to have you on our team if you:

• Have at least 4 years of experience in testing.
• Are familiar with at least one object-oriented language, as well as have an understanding of functional programming concepts.
• Can write code at a level sufficient to create test examples and simple programs.
• Have experience in working with an IDE, bug trackers, version control systems, and continuous integration systems.
• Are proficient in English, both written and verbal.

We’d be especially thrilled if you have:

• Experience testing compilers, game engines, or other performance-critical systems.
• Experience with large distributed CI/CD systems.
• The ability to master new programming languages and technologies.
• An understanding of Bash/Zsh, iOS development, C, concepts of compilation into native code and linking, as well as Gradle or other build tooling.
• The ability to work well and manage tasks independently.
• The desire to learn new things, show initiative, and take charge.
