About The Role

As an iOS Engineer, you will be part of a small, highly skilled cross-functional team working with Product Managers, Backend Engineers, Android Engineers, Product Designers, and more. You will collaborate globally with the broader Mobile chapter, dealing with topics from improving Bluetooth reliability within the iOS SumUp app and SDK, to implementing user-facing features like screens for card reader interaction, and developing technical roadmaps.

Success in this role requires following good software engineering principles, writing clean code and tests, and a willingness to learn and improve. You will ship features and contribute to decision-making. You should be a mobile engineer with a product mindset, capable of owning features and adapting to changing priorities.

This role is based on-site in Berlin, emphasizing face-to-face collaboration.

Our Hardware team creates beautifully designed card payment devices and accessories for merchants worldwide, covering industrial design, embedded systems, mobile apps, and backend services. What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality iOS features with cross-functional teams.
• Enhance user engagement, performance, and reliability through feature development.
• Work on features impacting our developer community, driving roadmaps and improving developer experience.
• Conduct code reviews, optimize applications for speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and debug to ensure application stability.

You'll be great for this position if

• You have experience building complex mobile applications like SumUp’s Super App.
• You are proficient with Swift, Obj-C, and iOS frameworks.
• You understand architectural patterns like MVVM and MVP, ensuring modular, scalable architecture.
• You know what to test, why, and how to write resilient tests.
• You care about user interaction, usability, and detail.
• You aim for clean code but are pragmatic when needed.
• Your communication skills suit a distributed team.
