Senior Power Electronics Engineer (m/f/d)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Power Electronics Engineer/Technical Lead to oversee the design and development of advanced neutral point clamped (NPC) converters and multilevel power conversion systems. Combining deep technical expertise with project leadership, this role requires the candidate to drive innovation, mentor engineers, ensure design excellence, and contribute to the company’s intellectual property and technical roadmap. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the modelling, simulation and prototyping of power converters and will be capable of taking ownership of complex systems from concept to productisation.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Own the architecture and design strategy for NPCs and multilevel power converters (e.g. 3L-NPCs, T-NPCs and ANPCs)
Define topology selection, semiconductor device strategy (silicon (Si), silicon carbide (SiC), gallium nitride (GaN)) and control methodologies
Provide technical direction across simulation, hardware development, thermal design and EMC compliance
Develop detailed electrical and thermal models of NPC converters using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS or LTspice
Perform system-level simulations to evaluate converter performance under various operating conditions
Design and implement advanced modulation and control schemes in firmware or DSP/FPGA
Oversee hardware prototyping, test plan definition and experimental validation
Conduct experimental measurements including voltage/current waveforms, switching behaviour, thermal performance and total harmonic distortion analysis
Prepare detailed technical reports summarising simulation results and experimental findings
Collaborate on research papers and white papers and contribute to patent applications
Mentor junior engineers and interns to foster skill development and technical rigour
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including those specialising in embedded systems, thermal engineering, mechanical engineering, and systems engineering
Serve as the primary technical point of contact in internal and external project reviews

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Significant previous hands-on experience in power converter development
Expertise in multilevel converter topologies (especially NPC), gate drive design, and protection
Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSpice, or equivalent
Good knowledge in programming languages such as Python and C.
Basic proficiency in building and testing power electronics hardware
Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs and/or FPGAs is a plus
Passion for research, innovation, and willingness to learn and adapt quickly
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
