Department Overview
The Travel Development Department (TDD) is a distinctive part of the Commerce & Marketing Company. It oversees the entire spectrum of Rakuten Travel’s development and operations, focusing on:

Position Details
Why We Hire
Our first target is to become Asia No.1 online travel service. You will collaborate with sales, marketing, customer support, and development teams to provide the best user experience for users and business partners, continuously improving and innovating based on real‑time data, user behavior tracking, voice of customer, NPS, competitor research, and market analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead the discussion of marketing, sales promotion, globalization, localization, contents management, and customer relationship management processes with stakeholders, and provide appropriate products/services to acquire new customers.
- Increase the quality and customer satisfaction of all Rakuten Travel products and services by working closely with Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, and Development teams across the world’s Rakuten Groups.
- Own the design and implementation of services for travel‑experience‑related industries, not limited to hotels but also including rent‑a‑car, bus, activity, and packaged tours.
As a Group Manager
- Lead the travel business product team to create products for travelers and business partners along with vision, strategy, and tactics.
- Evangelize your products to stakeholders inside and outside the company with presentations.
- Make presentations at conferences in sales areas such as the US, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and other APAC countries.
- Recruit new members and train junior/middle level product managers.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 8+ years of product management/program management experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines and functions (both business and technical).
- Enthusiastic, motivated, and self‑driven to change the world with products.
- Tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to motivate/drive stakeholders without formal authority to make progress.
- Deep travel or hotel industry knowledge and experience.
- Experience in product management of e‑commerce or similar services.
- Experience in KPI formulation and reporting to executives.
- Experience contributing to service launch or growth as lead product manager/owner.
Desired Qualifications
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Reporting expertise with visualization and progress of short‑term and long‑term goals.

- TOEIC over 800.
- Capable of making a presentation in English.
Japanese Qualification
Japanese Language Proficiency: N1; Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing.
