Senior Quantum Hardware Engineer (AMO Physics Focus)

Join a company at the forefront of the quantum revolution ! This company is building next‑generation quantum computers and needs a highly‑driven Senior Quantum Hardware Engineer to take ownership of critical system modules.

You will be part of a pioneering, multidisciplinary team, collaborating directly with leading quantum scientists and a diverse group of software, mechanical, and electrical engineers. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise will directly translate into functional, cutting‑edge quantum hardware for our customers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and integration of a key, complex module within our quantum computer architecture (e.g., advanced imaging systems, optical tweezer generation, or laser distribution networks).
  • Ensure your module seamlessly integrates with the full quantum stack, driving rigorous testing and optimization for overall system performance and stability.
  • Take on new, exciting hardware challenges and modules after successfully bringing a project to completion, ensuring continuous technical growth.
  • Serve as the technical expert for your module, working closely with software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams for development and implementation.
  • Maintain fluency in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics advancements to continuously push the performance limits of our systems.
  • A PhD or Postdoc with a strong, deep background in AMO physics.
  • Proven, practical experience in the successful setup, stabilization, and operation of complex laser and optical systems in a research or industry setting.
  • During your research, you must have strong contact with one or more of the following core quantum hardware topics:
  • Atom arrays based on optical tweezers
  • Use of Alkaline‑earth‑metal atoms or Rydberg atoms
  • Design and operation of UHV systems for ultracold atoms or trapped ions
  • High numerical aperture imaging and addressing techniques
  • Implementing and characterizing highly stable lasers (frequency and amplitude stabilized)

Domain Specific Experience

  • Atom arrays based on optical tweezers
  • Use of Alkaline‑earth‑metal atoms or Rydberg atoms
  • Design and operation of UHV systems for ultracold atoms or trapped ions
  • High numerical aperture imaging and addressing techniques
  • Implementing and characterizing highly stable lasers (frequency and amplitude stabilized)

Highly Desired Skills

  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in a relevant industry setting (quantum, semiconductor, photonics) is a significant advantage.
  • Programming & Data: Proficiency in scripting and data analysis (Python strongly preferred).
  • System Design: Experience or familiarity with basic electronics design and/or mechanical design principles is a plus.
