This position targets network virtualization for disaggregated datacenter infrastructures and is suitable for recent PhD graduates or postdoctoral researchers passionate about cloud-scale computing, systems architecture, and cutting-edge virtualization technologies.

On behalf of world famous ICT company Huawei, we are seeking a Senior Researcher: Disaggregated Datacenter Network Virtualization (m/f/d).

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on next-generation network virtualization techniques that enable scalable, elastic interconnects across disaggregated compute, memory, and storage components.
• Design and prototype experimental disaggregated network virtualization frameworks for serverless and cloud-native environments.
• Contribute to technical publications, patents, and open-source projects.
• Collaborate with senior researchers, engineers, and academic partners on high-impact research topics.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field , with a focus in computer architecture, networking, or virtualization.
• Solid understanding and academic experience in one or more of the following: datacenter networks, software-defined networking (SDN); virtualization technologies such as VirtIO, OVS, KVM/Qemu; high-performance I/O (e.g., RDMA, DPDK, SmartNICs); TCP/IP protocol stack and system-level programming.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research-driven environment.
• Demonstrated potential through research publications, open-source contributions, or project experience.
• Familiarity with CXL , PCIe-based disaggregation , or Ultra Ethernet concepts is a plus.
