This role offers the opportunity to be a key contributor to a cloud engineering team, building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers mission-critical applications. You will manage and optimize cloud-based databases, design automation frameworks, and support internal teams to accelerate application deployment. The position requires hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, and database administration, while also providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers. You will collaborate across globally distributed teams, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of critical systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, resilient solutions.

Accountabilities

As a Senior Software Engineer (Database), you will:

• Manage and optimize MySQL and PostgreSQL database clusters, including performance tuning, upgrades, and backups.
• Design, develop, and maintain shared AWS-based infrastructure supporting applications on ECS, EKS, and Lambda.
• Build automation and infrastructure-as-code platforms using TypeScript and Python to streamline AWS resource provisioning.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams and junior engineers on cloud and database best practices.
• Support production data operations and provide efficient solutions for teams without direct access to production environments.
• Ensure reliability and resiliency of cloud applications, participating in on-call rotations for AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate across globally distributed teams, following agile principles and contributing to continuous improvement.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering and cloud platform development, including 4+ years of DBA experience in cloud environments.
• Expertise in AWS Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL administration, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and backup strategies.
• Proficiency with AWS cloud infrastructure, serverless and containerized solutions (Kubernetes, ECS), and orchestration frameworks.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript and Python, with experience using CloudFormation/CDK and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience integrating infrastructure automation into CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to create clear diagrams and explanations for complex topics.
• Collaborative mindset, adaptability, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and readiness to respond to production incidents.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
