We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a dynamic, remote-first engineering team focused on building scalable, high-performance systems that process large-scale data in real time. This role offers the opportunity to shape technical direction, influence platform architecture, and contribute to both product and internal tooling. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver robust APIs and backend solutions that delight users. Accountabilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend systems and APIs responsible for ingesting, processing, and routing large-scale data streams.
• Design and implement scalable, high-performing distributed systems with robust automated test coverage.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and designers to translate feature specifications into high-quality code.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on system design, code quality, and best practices.
• Take end-to-end ownership of software components, including participation in on-call/support rotations.
• Identify opportunities to improve internal tools, processes, and platform capabilities.
• Research and implement solutions to complex technical challenges, balancing innovation with operational excellence.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience building backend systems for large-scale, data-intensive applications.
• Strong proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and scalability principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Docker, and Linux-based environments.
• Knowledge of networking, performance profiling, and debugging complex systems.
• Experience in Agile development and rapid iterative delivery.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Strong sense of ownership, high-quality deliverables, and ability to mentor and collaborate effectively.
• Familiarity with open source contributions is a plus.
