This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Machinify, Inc. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Backend | Platform Expansion in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape and expand a high-impact AI platform that is transforming healthcare claims and payment operations. The Staff Backend Engineer will design and build scalable, distributed backend systems that support AI-driven web services, data pipelines, and machine learning frameworks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance software and ensure the platform can handle future expansion. Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using Java and Scala, following software best practices.
• Build and manage distributed PostgreSQL database systems to ensure performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features supporting AI platform expansion.
• Implement complex frameworks for processing and analyzing large volumes of data using machine learning techniques.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and database issues in a timely manner.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality and consistency.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software development experience, with expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and database technologies.
• Proficiency in Java or Scala, with strong knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming principles.
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Java EE.
• Skilled in SQL, relational database design/administration (PostgreSQL preferred), and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Kafka).
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and asynchronous programming.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS), CI/CD practices, and version control (Git).
• Soft skills: critical thinking, problem-solving, proactive attitude, strong communication, ability to work independently and in a team.
