Android Software Development Manager

Job Summary

Directs the efforts of a team in the design, development, implementation, and support of various information technology/systems applications and/or projects focused on, but not limited to, mobile technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deep expertise in Android app development (Kotlin/Java, modern architectures), with strong working knowledge of Python for backend or automation tasks, AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3), and practical experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into mobile applications using tools such as TensorFlow Lite or AWS AI services.
• Coordinates with business owners to determine business needs or requirements.
• Plans initiatives and projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress.
• Acts as a team leader or project manager and/or establishes and communicates common goal and direction for the team.
• Evaluates status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team’s effectiveness.
• May coordinate with other managers to integrate the project with applications and/or initiatives.
• Prepares reports and presentations and coordinates communication between peers, team, business owners and management.
• Coordinates and oversees career development, performance management, pay determination and team communication.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of full‑time employees including team leads and individual contributors.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) plus four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Six (6) years of relevant work experience (in addition to the education requirement).

• Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • May require in‑depth skills in one or more of the following: implementation and support, large‑scale data centers, application development projects, application testing, analytical skills, general IT knowledge, and project management.

Work Environment

• Normal setting: office.
• Candidates must be located in Houston, TX. No relocation assistance is available.
• This position requires being onsite Monday through Thursday with a flexible work‑from‑home day on Friday.
