BESS Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a BESS Electrical Engineer to support the engineering, grid integration, and delivery of battery energy storage projects. This role will contribute across the full project lifecycle, with a particular focus on grid connection activities , electrical design coordination, and technical assurance from early development through commissioning and operation.

You’ll work closely with internal teams, EPC partners, network operators, and equipment suppliers to ensure projects connect to the grid safely, compliantly, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

Electrical & BESS engineering

• Support the electrical design of BESS projects, including single-line diagrams, layouts, protection concepts, and interface definitions.
• Review technical documentation from suppliers and EPC contractors to ensure compliance with project and grid requirements.
• Provide engineering support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.

Grid connection & network interface

• Support grid connection applications and technical submissions to network operators.
• Coordinate grid studies inputs and review outputs (e.g. load flow, short-circuit, protection, and dynamic studies).
• Act as a technical interface with DSOs/TSOs and other grid stakeholders throughout the connection process.
• Support the development of grid compliance documentation and responses to technical queries.
• Assist with on-site grid connection testing, witness testing, and energisation activities.

Delivery & site support

• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, resolving electrical and grid-related issues as they arise.
• Support FAT/SAT activities for electrical and control systems.
• Assist with fault analysis and performance investigations once assets are operational.

Standards, safety & improvement

• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards, grid codes, and health & safety requirements.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.

What we’re looking for

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with BESS, power systems, renewables, or grid-connected infrastructure .
• Working knowledge of grid connection processes , grid codes, and utility interfaces.
• Understanding of LV/MV/HV systems, protection, and control.
• Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with network operators and contractors.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
