Stellenbeschreibung:

Liberty Specialty Markets Claims department handle claims through all stages from initial notification to conclusion including; analysis of new notifications, coverage, liability and quantum, establishing and monitoring appropriate reserves and making claims payments as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing new notifications to make an initial view of their complexity and/or severity to determine at what level they need to be handled;
  • Working with Claims Managers and Claims Specialists to review high value and complex claims as part of a development plan;
  • To help achieve our vision of being a leading provider of commercial claims solutions, delivering a first class claims handling service.
  • Handling and resolving claims efficiently and fairly in accordance with the Claims Charter/Code of Conduct and Claims Process Guidelines.
  • Follow at all times applicable claims reserving philosophy and claims standards with appropriate referral.
  • Liaising closely with relevant stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the claim. For example the policyholder, broker and co-insurers, actuaries and underwriters.
  • Ensuring compliance with best practice, service and communication through system reporting and internal file audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with approved Panel list including provision of direction to external lawyers and adjusters.
  • Working with underwriters and business development managers in order promote good working practices and relationships with clients.
  • Checking and drafting terms and conditions of wordings and/or pre-contractual agreements (wording and special conditions)
  • Review various legal documents and provide expert legal support and advice to local management
  • Design and deliver legal training to the underwriters and business development managers
  • Draft and manage certain legal documents (such as NDAs) and oversee legal aspects of local business
  • Ensure good file maintenance and record keeping.
  • Ensure own expense control is reasonable.
  • Relationship building, developing LSM market recognition and promoting the LSM brand (including participation in industry conferences/committees, both by way of attendance and/or presentation, steering committee/market meetings, meetings with brokers and insureds to discuss trends and developments or in the context of an existing claim and assisting Marine and Aviation Underwriters in their marketing efforts).
  • Promote the LSM Claims Charter and Code of Conduct delivering excellence in client service.
  • Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM's commitment to placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. LSM expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to all regulatory and internal requirements, and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times. These requirements include Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.

Skills and Experience

  • Law degree and a licensed attorney
  • Considerable insurance claims expertise and minimum of 10 years work experience in similar role
  • Ability to make decisions and exhibit sound and reasoned judgment and/or refer upwards as appropriate;
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Excellent analytical and oral/written presentation skills;
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team;
  • Ability to set an example to self and team; to review, maintain and improve company systems and procedures and to encourage others to do so to ensure efficiency
  • A confident personality with the ability to consult and challenge appropriately, as required, with internal and external clients
  • Self-motivated and dynamic;
  • Ability to manage/prioritise multiple tasks;
  • Ability to motivate, develop and mentor more junior team members for the benefit of the individual and the Company
  • Fluent in English and German
