Data Engineer / C1 German / Remote

The Role

We are building a modern, cloud-based data platform to process and analyse large-scale data across multiple domains. As a Data Engineer , you will play a key role in designing and evolving a scalable data architecture, enabling real-time insights and high-performance analytics.

You will work across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to modelling and reporting, while collaborating closely with engineering and business teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a modern data lake architecture using cloud technologies (e.g. object storage, query engines, table formats)
  • Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Airflow, dbt, and distributed processing frameworks
  • Process both real-time event streams and structured datasets within a layered data architecture
  • Develop and maintain analytics and event tracking systems to capture platform usage, performance, and business metrics
  • Implement data quality frameworks and validation processes to ensure reliability and consistency
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven insights and reporting
  • Optimise data storage, query performance, and cost efficiency
  • Automate workflows and infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Your Profile

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3–4+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Strong experience with Python and data processing libraries
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms , ideally AWS or similar environments
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow or comparable)
  • Familiarity with message queues and event-driven systems
  • Experience working with columnar data formats (e.g. Parquet) and modern table formats
  • Knowledge of data modelling, partitioning strategies, and performance optimisation
  • Experience with transformation tools such as dbt or Spark is beneficial
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
  • High level of ownership, self‑organisation, and independence
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions
  • Interest in AI-driven systems and willingness to contribute to their development
