Financial Accountant - Germany

Overview

As a Financial Accountant you oversee the financial administration for several European entities including Germany, Poland and Austria. You deliver accurate reports, ensure tax and accounting compliance and maintain balance sheet files and the general ledger. You prepare tax filings and audit documentation and act as the main contact during audits. You identify risks in processes and define the controls needed to maintain a reliable administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly internal reporting process for assigned entities, including balance sheet and subledger reconciliations, payroll accounting, expense reports, accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
• Analyze balance sheets and profit & loss statements by gathering and interpreting data from systems and business stakeholders.
• Prepare statutory reporting, including audit documentation, and support the annual report process.
• Support budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with other Finance teams.

• Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT, Intrastat, and corporate tax filings, and maintain complete and up-to-date compliance documentation.
• Advise internal stakeholders on new local compliance requirements and improve processes where needed.

• Execute and continuously improve internal control activities to comply with Group policies and local regulations.
• Perform periodic reviews of financial processes to identify risks, inefficiencies and opportunities for automation or standardization.
• Implement and monitor control systems, including segregation of duties, approval workflows and audit trails.
• Keep process documentation up to date and clear.

• Act as the Regional Finance point of contact for external stakeholders and support company projects and initiatives.
• Achieve personal and team objectives set at the start of the fiscal year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an international accounting environment with solid exposure to statutory reporting, internal controls and local tax compliance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; German is a plus.
• Proficiency in complex ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
