Gas Turbine Air Inlet System Engineer (f/m/d) R&D

Role Overview

As part of our team, you will be responsible for Air Inlet systems of gas turbines, working both on research and development topics as well as first‑time applications in customer projects. You provide the technical foundation that enables globally operating project teams to start with robust design solutions and deliver successful project outcomes. Your day includes supporting proposal and execution teams, resolving site issues, maintaining specifications, and driving design developments. Throughout, you collaborate closely with colleagues from different technical and cultural backgrounds across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and design of Air Inlet systems for large gas turbines, including cooling, heating, filtration, and noise reduction
  • Coordination of development activities, technical reviews, and creation and maintenance of reference design documents
  • Development of innovative ideas and optimization measures for technical system design
  • Achievement of R&D program goals regarding schedule, budget, and reporting
  • Technical support for proposal, sales, project execution, service teams, and external partners
  • Technical evaluation and qualification of globally operating suppliers

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or a comparable discipline, with relevant experience in the power plant industry
  • First experience and knowledge of air filtration, inlet cooling/heating, fluid dynamics, and noise abatement methods
  • Problem‑solving skills, communication strength, and ability to work collaboratively in complex engineering environments
  • Experience with CAD tools and construction/design methodologies
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methods such as FMEA and experience in project execution
  • Fluent English skills; German beneficial; willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 10 %)
