What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a strategic and hands‑on Head of Finance to lead all aspects of finance at tozero , with a specific focus on financing our first industrial‑scale plant.

You’ll build and lead a finance function capable of supporting our next stage of growth – from securing major CAPEX funding to enabling full‑scale recycling operations.

What You Will Do

• Lead our financing strategy : Secure non‑dilutive funding to build and scale our first industrial site – through a mix of grants, structured debt, and public‑private funding mechanisms
• Own key financial relationships : Build and maintain partnerships with banks, public funding bodies, infrastructure financiers, and grant providers
• Own the finance function : Lead all core finance operations – budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial planning, accounting, and reporting
• Be hands‑on : In the early stages, be hands‑on in setting up processes, systems, and tools that will serve as the foundation for scale
• Strategic partner : Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to inform investment planning, capital allocation, and long‑term financial strategy
• Reporting & governance : Prepare board‑level reporting, track performance metrics, and ensure financial governance, compliance, and audit readiness
• Support scaling : Lay the groundwork for a finance team structure that can scale with the business

What You Bring

• Proven experience in CAPEX‑heavy, project‑based financing (e.g. infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, or industrial tech projects)
• A strong network and/or working knowledge of banks, public funding agencies, venture debt, or infrastructure investors
• Ability to structure and close complex financing deals (ideally across grants, debt, and equity instruments)
• Strong financial planning, modeling, and analytical skills – and the ability to connect numbers to strategy
• Experience building and leading a finance function from the ground up in a startup or scaleup environment
• Hands‑on and proactive working style, with the willingness to operate across strategy and execution
• Strong stakeholder and partner management skills, both internally (team, board) and externally (financiers, advisors)
• A growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, especially in the context of deeptech / industrial ventures
• Fluent in English and German
