Head of NatCat at HDI Group

Responsibilities

Continuous development and implementation of NatCat tools and processes used in Underwriting, with regular dialogs with stakeholders from functional domains (Underwriting, Analytics, HRC, Risk Management)
Generation of ideas, prioritization, testing and implementation of insight‑driven NatCat solutions to improve decision making in Underwriting
Development and expansion of NatCat infrastructure i.r.o. pricing, accumulation control and real event analysis
Driving the development and commercialization of our own in‑house Geo information system (ARGOS)
Technical and disciplinary leadership of the home office NatCat team
Presenting results and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management, reinsurers and external partners and customers

Qualifications

Successfully completed studies in business economics, mathematics or science with a strong interest in analytics or an equivalent degree
Professional experience in the NatCat domain
Strong strategic and visionary thinking to develop long‑term goals and vision, based on the strategic directions
High level of determination and focus on execution
Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve common goals
Excellent communication, teamwork and coordination skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders as well as project coordination
Experience with GIS, databases and data analysis; programming skills in R and SQL are an advantage
Strong personal initiative and commitment, entrepreneurial thinking and assertiveness
Very good written and spoken English and German skills
