Your Tasks
In the position of a Junior Software Engineer (f/m/d) in Life Science and Diagnostics at QIAGEN, you will help us shape our product development with skill and passion. You will work with our system and software teams to develop instrument control software for laboratory devices as well as data‑analysis software to process test results, helping our customers to gain valuable insights from a biological sample.
- As a Junior Software Engineer you will typically work in project teams of 5‑10 people and gain experience in different roles throughout the life cycle of a software development project.
- You will start as a software developer or software tester in one of our scrum teams; through your professional career you will have the opportunity to grow into senior roles such as senior engineer, product owner, software architect or verification manager.
- You will work across teams and sites to generate the best possible solution for our products in a complex environment of biology, chemistry, mechanics, electronics and software.
- You will be based at QIAGEN Hilden, our operational headquarters. As part of your training, you will visit one of our international development sites in Aarhus, Denmark or Wroclaw, Poland to strengthen and refine your software development capabilities.
- Throughout this journey, you will receive intensive on‑the‑job training, mentoring by an experienced senior manager, coaching and training opportunities.
Your Profile
- You have a master’s degree in computer science, with a minor in medicine, science or engineering.
- You show a strong interest in software and product development and have already gained first practical experience via internships or as a working student.
- You love science and have a strong analytical mindset that strives to analyse, understand and solve problems.
- You are highly organised, work independently and adapt easily to changing work environments.
- You show excellent communication skills in both English and German (C1 level).
- You enjoy working in international and interdisciplinary teams and look forward to travelling internationally to other QIAGEN R&D sites.
