Local Area Network Specialist

Our client is a Munich-based pharmaceutical equipment wholesaler responsible for supplying critical laboratory and medical technology to healthcare providers and research institutions across Germany. They are seeking an experienced Lancom Network Specialist to optimize and manage their existing network infrastructure, ensuring high security, performance, and reliable connectivity across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a full audit and cleanup of existing Lancom firewall rule sets using a structured “Deny All” security strategy.
• Optimize WAN connectivity and fallback mechanisms using Dynamic Path Selection (DPS).
• Ensure stable and secure VPN connectivity between company sites.
• Configure and manage RADIUS authentication for secure WLAN environments.
• Provide ongoing maintenance of the Lancom network infrastructure and respond to incidents when required.
• Integrate Lancom network devices into centralized monitoring solutions (e.g., SNMP-based monitoring).
• Improve overall network security posture and operational performance.
• Document network configurations, standards, and optimization measures.
• Provide technical recommendations for long-term infrastructure stability and scalability.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with Lancom network devices and their configuration.
• Expertise in firewall rule management and network security best practices.
• Solid experience with VPN technologies and multi‑site network connectivity.
• Experience implementing RADIUS authentication and secure WLAN configurations.
• Knowledge of network monitoring solutions and SNMP integration.
• Ability to analyze and optimize existing infrastructures for security and performance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production network environments.
• Fluent German required; English is beneficial.
